There weren’t any high-speed
automobiles, cool gadgets, high tech infrastructure, modular kitchens or such
advanced tools to use back then when the first human was born on this planet.
We were directly dependent on the natural surroundings around us to nurture us,
feed us, shelter us and to protect us from the dangerous threats back then.
In the past, humans lived in
accordance with nature. People lived in harmony with the ecosystem because they
saw themselves as part and parcel of the natural surroundings they lived in.
Due to the huge progress that science
and technology has made since then, we have now been in less connection to
nature. We do depend on nature now, although more in an indirect way. All the
stuff we use, starting from the metal your laptop is made of to the food you
eat, all of the resources used up in building such utilities are derived from
nature. Still, we don’t spend time in nature and materialize its spiritual
power in ourselves. Ecological sustainability has now become of paramount
concern.
I have a habit of spending time in
nature, noticing the beautiful colors of flowers, the way clouds dance in the
sky, the enchanting sound of leaves blowing with the wind and the feeling of
freshness within. All this is so rejuvenating and feels like a reincarnation of
a stronger self. Let’s talk about why we should spend time in nature.
1)
SPENDING TIME
WITH NATURE GIVES SERENITY.
Why do you think all the great Yogis and
saints in the East have located themselves high up in the mountain valleys,
away from distractions and noisy chatter of the world? This is so because
nature gives us a comfortable cushion of peace and tranquility which then
becomes our true best friend.
“Silence is the music of our soul”, noted Confucius, the great Chinese philosopher.
2)
CONNECTION
TO THE SPIRITUAL ENERGY UP THERE BECOMES EASIER because as soon as we get alone and in touch
with nature, we start our intellectual journey to search for Him, the cosmic
energy in nature combines with our very own energy. This form of energy is very
powerful and extremely divine. As it gets intertwined with our spiritual energy,
the journey becomes smaller and easier, making it seem like a nature walk in
the woods, feeling the cool breeze wash our worries and silence does seem to us
like a music playing in the God’s opera.
3)
GIVES
EXTREME CLARITY. The silent talk
with nature forces us to introspect, to take a look at us, the way we are
progressing towards our dreams, to analyze, sometimes criticize and to get on
track again. Decision-making ability becomes amplified to such a great
intensity that we become almost unshakable when posed in front of hardships. I
believe that looking at the present conditions, the future will only get hard
with tougher decisions to be taken, more would be needed to be done in less
time and human beings would need to work at superhuman speed. For all this,
clarity of mind is needed which can only be achieved spending more alone time
in nature.
Apart from this, there could be more
points but I personally feel that all that is left for me to cover on this
topic, ironically, would fall somewhere in these three pointers only.
I want to leave you today with a
self-practiced insight :-
Practice deep inhaling and
exhaling in nature next time you spend some time with the trees. You
will feel as if they are answering to your worries, anxieties, and stress.
Studies all around the world have proved that a simple act of spending time
with nature can drastically improve our mental health. Inhale the positivity
you can gather, absorb it in, feel it cleansing your soul, feel that coolness
refreshing each one of your tensed nerves and make your body float with the
aura of nature. I can assure that you’ll come alive out of this
process.
Till next time.
Stay motivated.
Stay excited. Stay happy.
