The 10 Brain Tattoos of Legends : Robin Sharma

The following 10 brain tattoos are originally created by Robin Sharma. I have just added below each point that why I loved that particular quote. Hope you like them too. :)

1.    You can be a victim or a titan. You can’t be both.

We all get to make our own choices every single second of our lives. At this very moment, some of us might be stressed due to an unavoidable circumstance while someone going through the same struggle might be at peace with all the turbulence around her because she knows someday everything will fit in. Titans trust the process while the victim hates it.

2.    Your excuses are nothing more than the lies your fears have sold you.

By this quote, Robin Sharma perfectly delivers a lot of wisdom in just one simple line. Well, that’s just his awesome way! Many of us give ourselves excuses that our genius self doesn’t deserve. And then we blame someone else for it. It’s just that we know that our fears are the primary sources of the liberation of our bravest selves; still we keep on clinging to them all lifelong. Please shed them up!

3.    An addiction to distraction is the end of your creative production.

The moment we shift our focus from learning to laziness, we kill the dream we have. All of us get distracted a lot by the never-ending distractions of the world. Only a few of us, rarely 5-10%, are able to be successful. The quote above by Robin Sharma is the reason why this happens. No magic here. Pure dedication.

4.    A job is only a job if you choose to see it as a job.

More than half of the people we see in our society complain about their work. We blame our work for it being so boring and lack of energy. For one week, look at your work as if it is something that will change the world. Look at your simple “boring” job as something that makes this world happy and makes you feel that you are contributing to something bigger than you think. Robin Sharma puts this so well in his quote above that you should see your job as a craft, a medium through which you could serve the humanity. Look from Robin’s viewpoint. You’ll never shift to old thinking.

5.    Every visionary was first ridiculed before she was revered.

Well, this one’s a no brainer. We all have heard about so many great leaders who walked this planet Earth who were first ridiculed of their idea. They were called crazy. But then they were revered when their legendary selves shone through the dark times. Examples are Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Kiran Bedi, Picasso etc. If you do feel like people don’t believe in you and still you are continuing to chase your dreams, then my dear friend... You are one of them ;)

6.    Dream BIG. Start small. Begin today.

Many of us procrastinate a lot. We keep on planning and planning, thinking and thinking about the ways to achieve our goals. But in doing so, we don’t realize that planning a lot is taking up too much of our time! Sometimes, you shouldn’t keep on planning, just go for it! Start small. Start now. Begin today.

7.    The job of a leader is to grow more leaders. So leave people behind better than you found them.

We all don’t know for how long we have our stay on this planet. We all are in some way or the other dependent on another person. So while we stay here, why not make this ride a fun ride for others by lifting up the gloomy ones, by respecting the poor ones, by consoling the crying ones and by helping the needy ones? Grow people. Invest your time and energy in them.

8.    Adversity is nothing more than opportunity clothed in disguise.

All adversities bear the fruit of success. Just like a butterfly has to struggle through the shell to fly freely, we all have to fight through our share of struggles to fly in the world with freedom and bravery. No pain no gain.

9.    Life is short. Enjoy the process.

Really we never know when our last moment is. So why not spend each day loving, caring and spreading faith and hope all over? In the end we all have to turn into dust. Don’t we?

10.  Today is an awesome day to reach for your best.

Period. :)

Top 5 traits of highly successful people

There are actually many traits of highly successful people but am simply gonna articulate them in the following points for you. Just remember that being successful isn’t difficult, its much easier than being a mediocre:

  •  They are POSITIVE thinkers : All of us have our share of sorrow and regret and some unavoidable circumstances. But the ones who know the ability to deal with them wisely are able to dodge those tough times which mostly drain the energy out of most of others.
  •  They are PASSIONATE : Such kind of people are always coming up with new ideas or insights, no matter how busy they are. This strange habit is what makes them successful. They are constantly analyzing how they can amp up their game in every aspect of their lives.
  • They understand the value of SUPERB QUALITY HUMAN RELATIONS : It is so easy sometimes to forget about the human connection when you are up at the ladder of success when most of your peers aren’t, but most often this is the single most worst habit that makes success a failure in a matter of seconds ! All successful men and women of any era, got successful because they were always humble and understood that the very fabric of any successful enterprise or a personality or a brand is its superb quality human relations.
  • They run GREAT RITUALS to keep themselves on track. Hard times do come in the lives of most successful people as well, but they have already set some great rituals that they run every day in their lives to keep themselves on track. For example : it is going out for a run for me if I feel like having some stress in mind. This way, I remain fit mentally and physically both.
  • They WORK HARD. You really cannot ignore this point. Can you ? All successful people do agree on the presence of some luck factor in their lives but more than that they agree on the age old line “The harder I work, the luckier I get”. They are not like most of the lot who sits in front of the TV or PC aimlessly to hop on from website to website and are waiting luck to strike them. The successful ones get up, roll their sleeves up, get their hands dirty and endure the painstaking task until and unless they have realized their dreams.

Being successful isn’t a physical state, it’s a mental state.

A valuable lesson to learn from Mr. Bean

I love watching Mr. Bean series. I've actually watched all of the original ones so now am left with only the cartoon version, but it's funny as well!

There are many lessons that we can learn from the character of Mr. Bean.

First of all, Rowan Atkinson is a LEGEND! A true Genius! I think nobody could ever play that character that well, in the whole mankind, the way he has played it so flawlessly. So this blog post is dedicated to his most popular character on screen, Mr. Bean!

The simple and small lesson I've learned from Mr. Bean is that even though he doesn't own a big Lamborghini or a big mansion, he still feels himself as the king of the world. His little green and black car seems like a Rolls Royce to him and his small cozy apartment seems to him like the sweetest place to live on Earth. Never sees challenges as challenges, rather sees them as opportunities and always proves to be clever of the lot! He really knows how to draw happiness worth millions from the tiniest of things. And that is TRUE GREATNESS! If you don't believe me go watch his video on YouTube titled "Mr. Bean in room no. 420" It is one of my favorites! Life seems to throw its challenges to him, but this man! This man always seems to have a solution for everything! Give him a to work as a dentist,he'll do it great ! Besides the fact that you'll end up getting all your teeth filled with medicine! (Hope you have seen his episode of Mr. Bean and the Dentist). And he's the best barber in the town as well ! Amazing haircuts with tons of laughter! (Mr. Bean barber episode). And The Teddy! Who can forget him?

So, in short, we can say that he is a totally fun guy. So why not we, be a guy like him or a mother like him or a CEO like him. No am not referring to carelessness depicted in the serial, that is just added in the series to make it look funny to the audience. But what I refer here is, why not we enjoy each and every moment of our life just like him? Why shouldn't we love our dear ones so much today, as if there is no tomorrow? Why shouldn't we, for a moment, forget about being a CEO or a manager and then talk to a stressed out employee on a friendly level? Where has anything but that habit of smiling gone?

Please incorporate all of his good attributes to pick up from, to elevate the way you do your current work. Your work represents you. Have fun so that you can increase your happiness to another level of bigness.
If you are right now at your workplace, kindly get up and go to your nearest human being, take their hand in yours and tell them how much you value them and the significance they hold for you. Or go home and hug your sweetheart so tightly that you make her blush all night and tell her "I love you" like you mean it and then take that person or your wife whoever it is, and watch a Mr. Bean episode with them. (It could be your children also)

And if you are alone and with strangers, get up, go to your nearest human being. Talk to them. Give some human touch. And watch any Mr. Bean video with them. Am sure you'll end up making a good friend for life. :)

Spread smiles!

By the way, did you ever wonder how Mr. Bean used to earn his living? I've been puzzled a lot by this question sometimes. Enjoy your day.

Till next time.

G of GENIUS

Greatness comes with generosity.

Humbleness is a trait shared by all the leading business tycoons, elite people, and sports stars. I always used to wonder that how are they so humble? And while I was writing this blog post it struck me that the number one reason why they are so humble is because they routed their success to their hearts and not to their minds because if success reaches your mind then nothing fails like success.

It is their humbleness which makes them great. There is a very fine line between being humble and being walked over by others. Being humble does not mean letting people take control of you and being your master, being humble means respecting yourself first and then respecting others.
I have noticed this "n" number of times that the true genius of any craft, he never boasts of his craft even though he might have been the undefeated champion of his craft. Whenever you'll praise a genius he will always have his head down, eyes closed and heart connected to the Infinite Intelligence for thanking him for whatever he has achieved. The phony genius is always proud of small successes and boasts of the little tiny wins.

A true genius will always have a strange kind of innocence in their eyes and humbleness just exudes out of them. Wherever they go, whatever they do and whenever they speak, humbleness just falls from the brink of their souls.

Now I know that you are definitely fascinated by hearing about such amazing quality of a human being. Now you obviously want to be one... Let me help you out.

True genius knows the meaning of success. That is because he/she knows the true meaning of hard work, dedication, perseverance and consistency. I suggest you that whatever you're doing and wherever you are, each and every time you step outside your home and go to your place of work, mix these ingredients into your way of doing. When you will mix these ingredients, in the formative days it will be very difficult to cultivate these habits, because they are aligned with your mind and body. But gradually as the days will pass on (and with your will power) and you won't giving up working around these key areas, the mind and body will then come into a state of automaticity with these habits.
And as these habits will then be your second nature or your defining attributes, they will not allow you to give much importance to anything else than your work, your family, and your top most priorities. And at this point, you will grow in your field of work and true happiness will start to display itself. And once you get a taste of that true happiness, you will work harder and harder each and every time to gain more of it.
Then that day won't be far when your thirst for happiness will be satisfied and you will feel that you are literally overflowing with the love and happiness for your craft. This is the moment when you will experience the real meaning of humbleness. Humbleness truly comes from simple yet powerful ideas and principals consistently applied over a long period of time.
And then my dear friend, your humbleness will take you to the greatness which will then give you the confidence to wear the "G" badge of greatness with pride and honor and with utmost humbleness in your heart.

Stay motivated. Stay excited. Stay happy.

Why your laziness will get you nowhere?

It feels so good when you are sitting in front of your TV or playing your favorite game and a large pizza, large coke and all the tasty burgers and chips are there to give you the best possible company. You are munching on them as if they're never gonna end and the game or the movie just adds spice to the aura. No one is there to disturb you. No one gives a damn about what you're doing and neither do you give a damn about the world. You don't care about the world. The world seems to be an illusion for you and the game or the movie seems to be your sole mission of the life. You just don't care that who will pay the bills and how. The movie/game is your life. When once you got rejected by a beautiful girl you slip into the abyss of depression and the combination of the movie and pizza seems to you like the only way to escape it. Your family is fed up with you and so are you fed up with them. This way, days slip into weeks, weeks slip into months and months slip into years and one day, You're a fat ugly guy. It feels to you as if a big inflated tire is tied around your belly making you look so ugly. Then you start blaming all the people who were behind it, slipping again into that comfortable couch loaded with piles of pizzas and endless cans of coke.

And then, you welcome yourself to "Lazy Land". How does it feel to live in here? Terrible? Yes, undoubtedly.

So you are spending endless days in front of your TV or the PlayStation and enjoying your pizzas, dude, Is that what life is? I know you'll say to me "Prateek, hell yes! That is life" and in saying this, somewhere down the line you're insecure. You're afraid to be out in the world and play your part. You're a coward. Many times our egos are the curtains to hide our insecurities and that is exactly what you're doing. If you call your couch as the most comfortable place in the world, then please get up and take a whiff of reality, because that's not what's gonna be there in your life always. That is not gonna be the medium to pay your bills.

I know a friend of mine who used to do this all day, I said him a few words and they were harsh, rude and blunt. We didn't talk for many months for the words I said to him, hurt him badly but those were the injections to his self-esteem. And he's doing pretty well in his life now. What I said to him was "R, dude what are you doing? Are you a human or a dog? A real human being works hard to earn his bread whereas a street dog just eats up whatever is thrown towards him which is mostly the leftovers of others. Who are you? I see no difference between you and the dog. You are living on your parent's checks" and then damn! He was hit. Hit like a bullet straight in his heart. I wanted to do that only. But yes, that talk changed him for life. Look at him now and he's much fitter than me! Look at this diagram below and it might give you some realistic idea about what your laziness is doing up to you.

I know I am a bit blunt in this blog post but I just have to. For your betterment. Your fitness levels showcase your mental levels to the world. Like we took the example of a girl earlier, a girl will only like you if she sees that you do take care of your health. Eating up those pizzas now is enjoying, why so? Because your parents are paying the bills. After your parents are gone who will then pay the bills of your pizzas? Ignorance isn't the solution here, awareness is.Laziness very often breeds procrastination, which is the primary reason why average people remain average all their lives.

Deep inside we all have a longing to realize our truest potential. We all want to change the world. We all want to drive great expensive cars. We all want to live in big houses. We all want to be millionaires. But all this can't just happen with a snap! It takes hard work and dedication.

By shedding up all the habits that make you lazy, by transcending that "lazy feel", by giving yourself constant motivation that you have to make your today better than your yesterday, you'll automatically set yourself up to win. You'll discover more amazing stuff in the world. You'll see that your PlayStation or the movie can't give you that much happiness than making yourself work harder every day to strive for your aspirations. Once the couch that felt comfortable while playing on your PlayStation will now seem to you like the most uncomfortable place. And why will this happen?because you'll realize that your couch was just a sneaky little tiny hole where you hide from the reality of the world as if it never existed.

There's no wrong in playing games on PlayStation as well,  do it, but with regard to time. I myself love playing games. But don't play them that often.
Now I leave you with another question...

EITHER FEED YOUR MIND WITH ALL THE EXCUSES OR FEED YOUR MIND WITH PASSION, DEDICATION, AND WILLPOWER TO STRUGGLE.

Results do vary on both the sides.

YOUR FITNESS IS 100% MENTAL, YOUR BODY WON’T GO, WHERE YOUR MIND WON’T PUSH IT.

Till next time.

When I made a stranger smile. . . :)

I have always been a big supporter of the smiling habit and making others smile along your own personal journey of life. So a few weeks back I had a beautiful incident and today it struck my mind that why not share it with you all.

I presume here that you all must have read my blog post on my bike ride, if not click here. I really love my bike. So a few weeks back, my mom told me to go to the nearby market and fetch some vegetables. Being an obedient son I did what I was told to. As I was walking from the shop towards my bike to go back home, my cell rang up. Mom told me to wait there since she also has to buy something else. I did the same.

Waiting, waiting and still waiting. Then all of a sudden, from nowhere, a little boy of around 10 yrs of age came to me and started chatting with me about my bike. So this is the conversation between us:-

He: - Hey, Is this your bike?
Me: - Yes.
He: - It's a very beautiful bike. I love red color as well. It's damn gorgeous.
Me: - Haha, yes it is. Thank you for the praise.

(Then he said something that I had to laugh. I laughed because of the innocence with which he asked this question)
He: - How much does it cost?
Me: - (this is the moment I laughed) brother, it's very costly you'll definitely be able to buy it when you'll be of my age.
He:- Thank you. Can I ask you something ?
Me:- Sure, why not ?

He:- can I have a small ride on your bike ?

(I saw a sparkle of bike love in his eyes. I know it might sound crazy to some of you while reading this but yes, those who love something deeply and when they see it, their eyes do sparkle. And due to that sparkle I couldn't say "No" to him)

He sat on the back seat and I gave him a full round of the market.

After the round when he got down :-

He:- Thank you, brother. You don't know me and still you gave me the ride on your bike. Thank you  ( he literally stretched his "you" here )

Me:- No, I know you. You're a dreamer. An avid dreamer like me. I always used to have a dream of having my own bike. Do you have the same?
He:- Yes, I do.
Me:- Then how can you say we don't know each other? You're also a dreamer ; bike lover like me. So I do know you now. Work hard. Study well. And never lose the sight of your dreams. One day you'll surely have your own bike, better than mine, sexier than mine and much costlier than mine.

He gave me a big smile with his "stretched" thank you and he ran away to disappear in the crowd of the market.

This was a very beautiful incident in my life. A lot of times I have talked to and even shared some good jokes with strangers, but this small boy was something else. I could notice the innate desire for a bike from the way his eyes were looking at my bike with utmost admiration and fascination. All his smiles made my day. I really can't tell you how much happy I myself felt that day. Not because I had a bike and I gave a ride, but just because I could make a significance in someone's life and give him hope. At last, it's the human and personal touches that make you happy, not the material things.

Till next time.
