The 10 Brain Tattoos of Legends : Robin Sharma

The following 10 brain tattoos are originally created by Robin Sharma. I have just added below each point that why I loved that particular quote. Hope you like them too. :)

1.    You can be a victim or a titan. You can’t be both.

We all get to make our own choices every single second of our lives. At this very moment, some of us might be stressed due to an unavoidable circumstance while someone going through the same struggle might be at peace with all the turbulence around her because she knows someday everything will fit in. Titans trust the process while the victim hates it.

2.    Your excuses are nothing more than the lies your fears have sold you.

By this quote, Robin Sharma perfectly delivers a lot of wisdom in just one simple line. Well, that’s just his awesome way! Many of us give ourselves excuses that our genius self doesn’t deserve. And then we blame someone else for it. It’s just that we know that our fears are the primary sources of the liberation of our bravest selves; still we keep on clinging to them all lifelong. Please shed them up!

3.    An addiction to distraction is the end of your creative production.

The moment we shift our focus from learning to laziness, we kill the dream we have. All of us get distracted a lot by the never-ending distractions of the world. Only a few of us, rarely 5-10%, are able to be successful. The quote above by Robin Sharma is the reason why this happens. No magic here. Pure dedication.

4.    A job is only a job if you choose to see it as a job.

More than half of the people we see in our society complain about their work. We blame our work for it being so boring and lack of energy. For one week, look at your work as if it is something that will change the world. Look at your simple “boring” job as something that makes this world happy and makes you feel that you are contributing to something bigger than you think. Robin Sharma puts this so well in his quote above that you should see your job as a craft, a medium through which you could serve the humanity. Look from Robin’s viewpoint. You’ll never shift to old thinking.

5.    Every visionary was first ridiculed before she was revered.

Well, this one’s a no brainer. We all have heard about so many great leaders who walked this planet Earth who were first ridiculed of their idea. They were called crazy. But then they were revered when their legendary selves shone through the dark times. Examples are Abraham Lincoln, Mahatma Gandhi, Kiran Bedi, Picasso etc. If you do feel like people don’t believe in you and still you are continuing to chase your dreams, then my dear friend... You are one of them ;)

6.    Dream BIG. Start small. Begin today.

Many of us procrastinate a lot. We keep on planning and planning, thinking and thinking about the ways to achieve our goals. But in doing so, we don’t realize that planning a lot is taking up too much of our time! Sometimes, you shouldn’t keep on planning, just go for it! Start small. Start now. Begin today.

7.    The job of a leader is to grow more leaders. So leave people behind better than you found them.

We all don’t know for how long we have our stay on this planet. We all are in some way or the other dependent on another person. So while we stay here, why not make this ride a fun ride for others by lifting up the gloomy ones, by respecting the poor ones, by consoling the crying ones and by helping the needy ones? Grow people. Invest your time and energy in them.

8.    Adversity is nothing more than opportunity clothed in disguise.

All adversities bear the fruit of success. Just like a butterfly has to struggle through the shell to fly freely, we all have to fight through our share of struggles to fly in the world with freedom and bravery. No pain no gain.

9.    Life is short. Enjoy the process.

Really we never know when our last moment is. So why not spend each day loving, caring and spreading faith and hope all over? In the end we all have to turn into dust. Don’t we?

10.  Today is an awesome day to reach for your best.

Period. :)

7 Influential Magic Wands to Transform Your Life !

You are not the only one who wishes that if we humans had a magic wand to just whoosh away all our worries and tensions. I used to think this way as well. Every time I met any tough times, my mind used to get down and my heart used to so deeply wish if I had a magic wand to turn breakdowns into breakthroughs. All of the wishes were in vain when I found no such magic wand to eliminate stressful times and challenging life experiences from my life.

When I was about to give up completely and accept my fate as being a loser all my life, something shook from the inside of me that changed me and my thinking pattern for life.

A fascinating fact here is that we do have a magic wand to change our circumstances and the reactions. Dr. Joseph Murphy has put it so well that “there are basically two elements on which nature works, which are action and reaction. The action is mostly objective i.e. it comes from outside the human body whereas the reaction is what comes from within us i.e. it is objective."

And the magic wand that I want to offer you here is your ability to react. We all are offered in life some gorgeous challenges day in and day out, but all really boils down to the fact that if we are able to maintain the poise and calmness of our mind or not. This can only be done when we have full control over our ability to react to the outer circumstances.

We need to be like a blooming lotus amidst the dirt of negativity in the world. Every second a new negativity is thrown towards us. The choice really depends on us that if we want to own these negativities or not.
This reminds me of a story of Buddha. I would like to share that with you :-

Once there was a man whose wife was inspired by the greatness and humbleness of Buddha. Earlier he didn't have a problem with that, but later that turned out in the form of jealousy. So one day he decided to go to meet Buddha and abuse him for hypnotizing his wife's mind. The man abused Buddha and spit out all his anger on him. When he stopped, Buddha smiled and said to that man “If some guests cone to your house, you offer them food and they leave without even touching a grain of it. To whom does that food belong?”  The man said, “To me obviously”. Buddha smiled and said, “In the same way, I don't take any of your abusive words, they all still belong to you only.” The man left, impressed with the true bigness of Buddha's wisdom.

I believe that is the bigness we all must possess to let all the negativity sail by us without getting wet from it. I understand it is very difficult to possess such a power. But let me astonish you with a fact that this power resides within you. You don't need to possess it, you already have it. The only thing required is to identify and then harness it to such an extent that it dominates your well being. Am not going to inspire you to shed all your worldly possessions and lifestyle and go and live in the nirvana, but am sharing with you some tactics to balance your outer and inner life. A few points on how you can harness this power are as follows:-

1)   Whenever you feel like spitting your anger out on someone just remember that how would you feel if you were on the other side ?

2)    The work you are doing, is it in accordance with your values and ethics ? If not then such a work will be your biggest weakness, remove it as early as you can.

3)    Do you feel as a contributing member in the service of humanity?

The service of humanity gives the indefinite power which makes one realize that life is meant to serve others as well. And believe me, nothing gives you much power than this.

4)   Do you greet people with your most genuine smile ?

5)   All of us are not here that long and we don't want to hurt anyone on the path of life. Do we ?

6)    Forgive others sooner than they forgive you.
This habit of forgiving someone sooner than they forgive you is a very powerful tool. It has helped me a lot. If someone ever hurts you, remind yourself that from within, we all are same. Might be the other person has had a bad day. Might be he had a fight with his wife this morning. Might be his loan payment is due.

When you apply this principle to practical life, you'll see that people will get inspired by your greatness and they will always flock to you with boundless care and love.

7)    Now last but by no means the least, give yourself positive affirmations every day, each moment. Such affirmations need to be felt while speaking and you have to believe that you are going to achieve that level of calmness. Some affirmations I suggest are :-

i)       I am great!
ii)    I represent calmness and tranquility.
iii)  I will achieve all my dreams and I have full faith in my abilities.
iv)  I have God on my side.
v)     I am humble and kind.

So you see, we all have these 6 magic wands to revolutionize our lives. Apply them to your current problem(s) and see this magical power work for you. It is and was always, ready to serve you. Now as you have identified it, uncover it ASAP.

Till next time.

Invest in Humanity

I don't have the privilege to have a large number of friends, that's why I don't have many. I kind of enjoy having my own alone time a lot. Yes, I do have friends, but only a few. Two of my friends had the following conversation. Let's give them names A and B for ease.

The story line is that my friend "A" was needing some money to give a gift to his new girlfriend. So "B" had some pocket money saved so he promised to give it to him (A). As "B" was coming to give the money to him, he gave that money to an auto rickshaw driver because the auto rickshaw driver had to give the money to his landlord as that day was the last day of the payment term period.
My friend "B" has traveled a lot from that auto and thus, he knew that auto driver.

My friend "A" said to me "See Prateek, what kind of a friend is he ? I wanted that money to give that expensive perfume to my girlfriend and he gave that money to someone else"

My instant reply to this was "I understand buddy. But see what he has done. He has truly invested in humanity. By giving that money to you, of course, he would be happy to help you but just look at the satisfaction on his face now. He's euphoric."

And then even my friend "A" realized his mistake.

It's not just about the money my friend gave to the auto driver. It's about the trust and love for humanity that he invested. In this world where people live, money values more to humans than humans, it's so easy to have the biggest possible pocket full of money and it's so difficult to have the biggest heart filled with love and compassion for others.
The moment we start loving money more than humans, we start measuring relationships in monetary terms and this is the biggest blunder of all time. You can buy money with strong relationships, but you can never buy a relationship with the dollars in your bank account. How do you think such strong businesses were developed? They had such Top level management that believes in the power of humans and agrees that the most important asset of the company goes up every morning and comes down every evening through the lift. Relationships, be it in business or otherwise, have to be built on strong foundations of kindness, compassion, love and trust. This is the best way to invest in humanity.

So please invest in humanity. Period.

Till next time. . .
